Where We Are

The Farm holiday centre is situated in the town of Montalto delle Marche, the birthplace of the great Renaissance Pope Sisto V and the architect Giuseppe Sacconi who designed the “Altare della Patria” (Altar of the Fatherland) in Rome.

Montalto, which stands at 512 metres above sea level, dominates over the Aso and Tesino rivers. It was built in the 4th Century, but was only elevated to the rank of city in 1585 by Pope Sisto V.

Its central position, in the Picene hills, halfway between Ascoli Piceno (the City of Art, 30 kms) and Fermo (28kms) and the Sibylline Mountains (National Park, 32 kms) and the Adriatic (25 kms) allows it to benefit fully from the history, traditions, art, countryside, beaches and an incredible variety of village fairs as well as food and wine tasting events.

In the centre of the town is the magnificent towering cathedral “Santa Maria Assunta” built in the Roman – Neoclassic style and designed by Domenico Fontana. In front of it is the ex seminary, the seat of the Episcopal Sistine Museum. Montalto offers another four museums, (The Civic Art Museum, The Archeological Museum, The Prison Museum and the Ethnographic Museum) as well as a rich historical archive and library. Also worth seeing is the Sisto V Mill, a rare example of a fortified mill in the Marche, situated in the Aso valley about 1 km from our centre. Montalto also has the nickname of “City of a thousand linden trees”, where you can go for long refreshing walks.

The hamlets of Porchia and Patrignone, whose old “castles” participate in the "Quintana of Ascoli", also offer glimpses of undoubted historical and architectural interest.

The biggest summer attraction is the phantasmagorical Notte delle Streghe e dei Folletti (Night of the Witches and Elves), that attracts thousands of visitors every year.

1) Autostrada (Motorway) A 14, exit at Pedaso (26kms). Go along the provincial road Valdaso following directions for Montalto delle Marche.

2) Autostrada A14, exit at Grottammare (24kms). Go along the Val Tesino road following the directions for Montalto delle Marche.

By train

San Benedetto del Tronto station (28kms), Porto San Giorgio (35kms) or Pedaso (26kms)

By air
